Takuma Inoue, the younger brother of four-division world champion Naoya Inoue, is wasting no time to follow his path.
After picking up one of the titles "The Monster" left behind, the 27-year-old is ready to defend it.
The Japanese pug is set to defend the WBA bantamweight title against former IBF junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas on November 15 in Japan. The actual venue of the clash has yet to be announced, Boxing Scene reported.
The younger Inoue won the vacant WBA bantamweight crown in April, pulling off a unanimous decision win over Liborio Solis in Tokyo, Japan.
In 19 fights, he has suffered only one loss, a unanimous decision at the hands of Nordine Oubaali for the WBC bantamweight title back on November 7, 2019.
Inoue would do well not to take Ancajas lightly. The Filipino is on the comeback trail after suffering a couple of losses.
Proof of that is "Pretty Boy's" TKO win over Wilner Soto in June.
According to Ancajas' trainer and manager Joven Jimenez, they are ready for Inoue, a fight already in the works after the 31-year-old Filipino's last fight against Soto.
"We are 100% ready. We are always ready," Jimenez said in Filipino to this writer. "The fight was already being arranged after Jerwin's last fight."
Takuma Inoue is on a five-fight winning roll. Regardless, Jimenez believes there is a weakness in the Japanese style - something they are currently working on in training.
Team Ancajas out to avenge Bornea loss
Also, Ancajas will be out to avenge the boxing loss of his close friend, Jade Bornea. Before Soto, Inoue won over "The Hurricane" via TKO last December.
"We have become close with Jade Bornea here in Las Vegas, training and going out with him. He has become a close friend of ours," the Filipino trainer and manager stated.
