Cincinnati Bengals franchise quarterback Joe Burrow is making good progress on his recovery from a calf injury sustained during the early parts of training camp on July 27.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor initially said that he would be out for several weeks, and he gave the latest update regarding their star QB last Monday.

"He looks great. Physically just walking around, he looks probably as good as he's ever looked at this point. That's a positive and we'll just go from there," the 40-year-old mentor said.

Despite the update, Taylor did not say when Burrow will return to action. However, he also stated that a plan is already in place throughout the potential span of Burrow's injury.

The Bengals are set to open the 2023 NFL season on the road on Sunday, September 10, against the Cleveland Browns.

Joe Burrow's third training camp in-a-row dealing with issues

The 26-year-old was stretchered off the field after picking up the calf strain nearly a month ago. It is the third straight training camp wherein Burrow had dealt issues with.

In 2021, he was recovering from a torn ACL and MCL, plus additional damage to his PCL and meniscus sustained in the second half of a Week 11 showdown against the Washington Football Team during the 2020 season.

Last year, the first overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft suffered a ruptured appendix in training camp.
