NBA veteran coach Doc Rivers has been through a lot in the last ten years or so, hoping to replicate his lone NBA title conquest with the Boston Celtics in 2008.

After that, the 61-year-old mentor tried to bring his coaching brilliance to the Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers. Unfortunately, the stints did not produce the same results.

Regardless, there is no question that Rivers can vouch for any coach looking for a head coaching gig. That included Tyronn Lue, who ended up replacing him as head coach of the Clippers.

But it appears there are details missing in the timeline before Lue inherited the Clips' coaching job.

Gilbert Arenas claims Doc Rivers flipped script

Retired NBA player Gilbert Arenas made an uncanny claim on the GilArenaShow via ClutchPoints on Twitter.

Rivers allegedly lobbied for Lue to be the Sixers' head coach at the time. But that took a different twist when the veteran coach learned he was getting fired.

"Doc [Rivers] sent Tyronn Lue to Philly. Lobbied for him!... Doc found out he was getting fired... He called Philly and said 'I want the job now,'" the 2003 NBA Most Improved Player stated.

As most know, the one-time NBA coach was eventually fired by the 76ers in May. This was after Rivers and the Sixers fell to the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, NBA.com reported.

Rivers is expected to serve as one of the analysts for ESPN following his exit in Philly. It is nothing new for the 61-year-old, who has been a game analyst.
