Sha'Carri Richardson is wasting no time picking up the pieces in making the Olympics once more.
The 23-year-old sprinter won the 100-meter world title on Monday, August 21, indicating that she is out for redemption after her forgettable Tokyo Olympics stint that was dashed after testing positive for marijuana.
Richardson registered a personal best in the tracks, finishing with a personal best of 10.65 seconds at the 2023 World Athletics Championship held at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary, NBC Sports reported.
Her win was a stunning development, besting her adversaries - Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who finished second and third, respectively, according to the results detailed on World Athletics.org.
"I'm honored, I'm blessed, I had great competition, (which) pulled the best out of me, and I'm just honored to leave with a gold medal," the native of Texas said to reporters after the event.
The former LSU Lady Tiger added that she will not rest on her world title aspirations and vows to continue improving herself.
"I'm going to stay humble," she said. "I'm not back, I'm better and I'll continue to be better."
It was a huge win not only for Richardson but for the USA. Richardson's feat also made her the first American to win the 100-meter world championship since 2017. Torie Bowie was the last sprinter to rule the event at that time.
Also, Richardson's win gave her some vindication after failing to advance out of the 100-meter heats in the U.S. Track and Field Championships held last year, Reuters reported.
