Nick Kyrgios can't catch a break as he revealed he could not participate at the US Open due to an injury.

This means he will miss all Grand Slam competitions this year. The Australian tennis star took to Instagram to make his sad announcement.

"Heartbroken about the US Open. Will be back," he said.

"My wrist is not ready yet to compete. But may I remind people I have proected ranking of 21 when I choose to be back I'll be back where I belong ."

He previously apologized for his failed comeback at Wimbledon.

The US Open 2023 will kick off on August 28. Kyrgios said his withdrawal was meant as a precaution.

Breakout year to zero

Kyrgios had a great 2022 after reaching the Wimbledon final only to lose to Novak Djokovic in the finals match that lasted three hours.

He and Thanasi Kokkinakis also ruled the Australian Open Doubles that same year.

Because of this latest setback, he is expected to fall outside of the Top 100 in the ATP ranking.

Kyrgios started the 2023 season with injuries. He withdrew from the Australian Open earlier in the year to undergo knee surgery. The knee trouble extended up to the Wimbledon Open.
