The NBA has suspended San Antonio Spurs guard Devonte Graham for the next two regular season games that he is eligible and able to play, the league said in an official statement.

The 6-foot-1 guard pleaded guilty to a charge of impaired driving, which is a violation of law in the state of North Carolina. Graham picked up the charge over a year ago when he was still a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The five-year NBA veteran was pulled over for speeding on July 7, 2022, in Raleigh, North Carolina, at 3 in the morning. He allegedly showed signs of intoxication after driving 63 mph in a 40 mph zone. The former Kansas player was soon arrested.

Graham blew a 0.11 blood alcohol content on the breathalyzer, more than the state limit of 0.08 when he was taken to the Wake County Detention Center.

The player was sentenced to 21 days of jail, which was eventually suspended. Graham received a year of probation instead and was required to pay $393 in fines and fees. Aside from evading jail time, the speeding charge was also dropped.

Devonte Graham holds the Spurs' record

Graham arrived in San Antonio via a trade in February 2023 in a deal involving four future-second round picks for Josh Richardson.

In his debut game for the Spurs during a 138-131 double overtime loss against the Detroit Pistons, Graham put up 31 points, including six threes. The scoring output is a franchise record for most points scored in a debut.
