Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick will undergo another year of rehab after MRI results confirmed that he tore his left Achilles tendon during practice on Monday.
Patrick was carted off the field after falling in the middle of a drill. He is expected to miss the 2023 NFL season, his second consecutive absent season.
The 29-year-old tore his right knee ACL almost a year ago during practice, which caused him to miss the subsequent campaign.
When healthy, Patrick has been productive for the Broncos, catching more than 50 passes in each of his last two healthy seasons, going over the 730-yard mark.
Patrick is described as the team's emotional leader and the "heart and soul" of the WR room. Before these two major injuries, the wide receiver was remarkably healthy, appearing in 31 of 33 possible games and starting every game where he has played.
An injury bug has hit the wide receiver position for the Broncos. Courtland Sutton, KJ Hamler, and Patrick have each picked up major injuries since 2020.
Aside from Patrick's injuries, Sutton sustained a torn ACL in 2020. Meanwhile, Hamler suffered a torn ACL and a hip injury in 2021 and was diagnosed with pericarditis, a mild heart irritation, this year.

Klay Thompson tore his right ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. After spending a year recovering, the Warriors guard tore his left Achilles during a workout in November 2020.
He returned to action 31 months after his last game in January 2022, helping Golden State win the NBA championship that year.
