The Los Angeles Clippers and Kawhi Leonard are not in a rush to complete a contract extension, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN in a recent appearance on The Lowe Post.

"I hear it's kind of quiet right now. There is no rush on an extension for Kawhi Leonard, and then Paul George will be eligible in September," Youngmisuk said.

The two-time Finals MVP signed a four-year extension worth $176 million in 2021, but the 2024-25 season would be a player option.

Leonard arrived in Los Angeles during the summer of 2019, coming off a historic run with the Toronto Raptors. He led the Canadian squad to their first NBA title in his lone season with the team, beating the Golden State Warriors in six games.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are looking at line-up deals

Paul George signed a four-year extension in 2020 worth $190 million, which could go up to $226 million with incentives. The deal, which also has a player option for 2024-25, took effect in the 2021-22 season.

Leonard and George's deals are very similar in amount and length. The two have almost identical salaries from 2021-22 to 2024-25, with their final year player options worth $48.8 million.

George also arrived in Los Angeles in 2019 via a trade, one of Leonard's demands as a free agent back then.

The superstar duo are looking to line up their contracts with similar lengths again as they aim to maximize the Clippers' championship window together.
