Neymar Jr. showed his adoration for a former teammate by going as far as willing to name his upcoming child with the teammate's name.

Brazil's joint all-time leading scorer was asked what name he would give his upcoming baby if it were a boy, and the 31-year-old enthusiastically answered, "Messi."

Neymar and Messi were teammates on two separate occasions, first with FC Barcelona for four seasons from 2013 to 2017 until the Brazilian transferred to Paris Saint-Germain for the world transfer fee record.

The two were reunited in 2021 when Messi left Barcelona after the Spanish giants failed to give him a new contract due to La Liga restrictions brought by their debt and subsequent financial crisis.

Messi chose PSG as his next destination, and their second spell together lasted for two seasons. They won two Ligue 1 titles together for the French club.

Messi decided to move away from European football this summer after winning the 2022 FIFA Word Cup for Argentina last December, stating his desire to play in a league with less pressure this time.

The Argentine moved to MLS club Inter Miami, co-owned by former PSG player David Beckham.

Neymar is expecting his second child

The Brazilian superstar is expecting his second child and his first with his Brazilian influencer girlfriend, Bruna Biancardi.

The couple announced the pregnancy via social media last April. Neymar has a 12-year-old son, Davi Lucca, from a previous relationship.
