It looks like Cristiano Ronaldo's love for European football has faded away.

The Portuguese superstar, now with Al Nassr, said his chapter in Europe has already closed, adding that "European football has lost lot of quality," with Premier League as the exception.

Not only that, but he also thinks he is the one who opened the way to Saudi with more players now moving there.

"They criticized me for coming to Saudi League, but what happened now?" he asked, as football insider Fabrizio Romano quoted.

"I opened the way... and now all the players are coming here."

To double down on his take, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United predict that more players from top-flight European leagues will make their way to the Asian country, and soon, the Saudi Professional League will be better than the "Turkish League and Dutch League."

He also responded to the UEFA chief Aleksander Čeferin's claim that only the older players move to Saudi, 35 and above, to be specific.

CR7 said it is gradually changing, using Jota (24 years old) and Ruben Neves (26) as examples.

Why did he move to Saudi?

Another interesting tidbit from these quotes by Cristiano Ronaldo shared by Romano is how he regarded himself.

The 38-year-old Portuguese star said also crucial to his decision to join Al Nassr in Saudi was his vision of bringing in top players in the Pro League.

He believes he has that gravity, just like how he did with Serie A's Juventus from 2018 to 2021.

"When I joined Juventus, Serie A was dead, and then after I signed... it was revived. Wherever Cristiano goes he generates higher interest."
