Recently retired Sebastian Vettel has revealed ongoing conversations with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali about a possible behind-the-scenes role.
The four-time champion has been vocal about his activism concerning climate change and other social justice issues even before he hung up his boots.
Vettel is looking to push his mission towards Formula 1 and has held talks with F1's top boss.
"I've been to Monaco earlier this year. I had a very good meeting with [Formula 1 president] Stefano [Domenicali]," Vettel said when asked about a potential role within the motorsport series.
Vettel also said that aside from the cars, F1 also has a huge carbon footprint due to holding its events.
"Other than obviously the cars directly polluting, F1 has a huge responsibility because it's a very big event. A lot of people attend, I think you had around 500,000 people in the British Grand Prix last weekend. So there's a lot more to it than just the cars but obviously the cars, everybody sees them," the 36-year-old added.
Sebastian Vettel drives historic cars
The German used sustainable fuel to drive Nigel Mansell's title-winning Williams FW14B from 1991 and 1992 and Ayrton Senna's McLaren MP4/8 from 1993 in this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed on Sunday.
The event is an annual motorsport showcase where modern and historic motor racing vehicles are used at the Goodwood House, West Sussex, England.
