It has been four months since Jon Jones defeated Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, but Bon Gamin could still vividly remember when he made an error.

Gane said one thing led to another when he decided not to follow the original game plan created by his team.

According to him, coach Fernand Lopez told him to be patient and throw jabs, but that was not what he did.

"During all the camp Fernand Lopez told me every time we started training, jab and no big hand," he explained during an interview with MMA Junkie.

"Just jab. And what I did? A big hand. Big mistake, and he took the opportunity."

Jones climbed up to heavyweight recently, and he became slower, according to some pundits.

Gane knew this, but he failed to take advantage.

"Maybe he was not fast, but I was not good, too," he said.

"I didn't manage my distance. I was not good, but I remember he was not fast. He didn't have fast hands. He had power because he touched me, I don't remember where, but he landed some punches with power, but not fast."

Upcoming fight versus Sergey Spivak

Gane said he welcomes being called the face of French MMA and hopes he can make his country proud in the upcoming fight against Sergey Spivak.

He does not see Spivak as dangerous but is wary because of his well-rounded game.

"But he is more dangerous because he can strike, he can wrestle and he can go to the ground game. It's gonna be a big test for me."
