- In-game penalty for flops resulting in technical foul free throw
- A second coach’s challenge awarded if first challenge is successful
Officials can now call a technical foul for players caught flopping during games, resulting in a technical free throw for the opposing team.
A team will also receive a second coach's challenge if their initial challenge is successful.
The league introduced the coach's challenge rule during the 2019-20 NBA season, where coaches have one chance to dispute personal foul calls on their players and out-of-bounds and goaltending/basket interference calls during the first 46 minutes of a game and the first three minutes of overtime.
Teams must call a timeout to make a challenge. Once a challenge is successful, officials will overturn the call made and return the timeout. If unsuccessful, the timeout would be burned, and the call on the floor will remain.

New rule changes began trial in Summer League
The NBA began running a trial for the two rule changes during the 2023 NBA Summer League, starting with the California Classic in Sacramento.
It was initially reported last May that the NBA is considering calling a technical for flopping to reduce the occurrence of the unsportsmanlike conduct.
Flopping is defined as the deliberate act of falling when little or no contact is made in an attempt to trick referees into calling a foul.
