"The Last Dance" would not have been the last if only the Chicago Bulls management was able to keep everyone satisfied.
Dennis Rodman believes the Chicago Bulls of the Phil Jackson era could've won a fourth-straight ring after winning three before that.
However, things got messy due to the personal issues of key players.
"That 'Last Dance,' Phil Jackson came up with that, that's the last season. He said, 'This is the last dance.'... He wasn't coming back. I'm like, 'Damn, man. Wow. This is it?,'" Rodman said in an interview with Vlad TV.
"Because the next year, it was a half-season. We could've won this thing four in a row. But I tried saying in the pep rally, 'Hey. Let's bring everybody back together.' Some days you look back and say, 'We could've won four in a row.' But I think Michael [Jordan] got fed up."
The Chicago Bulls, which won two three-peats from 1991 to 1998, fell apart after issues with the management, specifically general manager Jerry Krause who coach Phil Jackson no longer wants to work with.
Jordan will not play for any coach other than Phil, while Scottie Pippen is not satisfied anymore with being underpaid.
Michael Jordan himself thought they could win fourth in a row
It can be remembered from "The Last Dance" documentary on Netflix that MJ wanted to stay for one more year with the Chicago Bulls.
"Would I have signed for one year? Yes, I would have signed for one year. I'd been signing one-year contracts up to that. Would Phil have done it? Yes," Jordan said.
"Now Pip, you would have had to do some convincing, but if Phil was gonna be there, Dennis was gonna be there, if MJ was gonna be there, to win our seventh? Pip is not gonna miss out on that."
"This all falls now as history as nothing can be done anymore. 'The Last Dance' is the last dance, and a fan can only ask, 'What if the music never went on for a little longer?'"
