The MLB All-Star Game is supposed to be something players and fans should enjoy.
Maybe, also a time to connect with someone you want on your team. Especially that out there is someone deemed the most coveted upcoming free agent and best player in the league right now.
New York Mets' Kodai Senga is one of many players who would love to have a moment with Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani who will become a free agent by the 2023-2024 season.

Senga was selected as an All-Star replacement for Chicago Cubs' Marcus Stroman.
He faced the reporters through an interpreter for this selection, and when asked about how he would bring his fellow Japanese to New York, he answered laughing:
"I'm going to put this hat on him right now."
Whether such a move will have an effect remains to be seen. But Ohtani himself shared that he and Senga have a good relationship. That might amount to something.
Mets' chances of signing Ohtani
Another connection Mets have right now with Ohtani is the fact that their current general manager Billy Epler was the one who signed him when he was still with the Angels.
However, the obstacle is the salary cap, as the Mets have the highest payroll in baseball history.
Newsday's Marc Carig and David Lennon reported that the team will use the international compensation system to bypass this. The Mets are also not hesitant to approach the Japanese unicorn despite their limitations salary-wise since Ohtani could make more through endorsement as a player from New York.
