The Los Angeles Angels are wasting no time to have Mike Trout back in the lineup as the star pitcher immediately underwent surgery on his fractured left wrist.
Fans can heave a sigh of relief as, according to manager Phil Nevin, the surgery was successful.
"I just talked to Mike; he just got out of surgery. He feels great," he said.
"The surgery went well. We spoke to the doctor a minute ago, but it sounds like everything went great."
Angels lost Trout to IL after hurting his hand in the series against San Diego Padres, wherein they lost the first two games.
Trout said he hopes to return before the season ends, but Nevin insisted that his return has yet to be determined.
"It just remains to be seen how Mike's hand responds when he starts doing the treatments and his rehab," Nevin said.
"I know he's anxious to get going. He was happy he could get this done right away so he can get back to the team as quick as possible."
Fractured pitching for the Angels
Angels need Trout back soon as their struggle continues, losing seven of their last eight games.
It does not help that two-way player Shohei Ohtani also deals with an injury. The Japanese sensation walked out with a blister in the same game that Trout hurt his hand.
He said he would continue playing under limited roles to avoid aggravating the injury.
"It's going to be pretty tough. As of now, I'm planning on not pitching," Ohtani said through an interpreter.
