Doc Rivers has been fired by the Philadelphia 76ers after yet another dismal playoff run and was replaced by Nick Nurse shortly after.
However, his influence in the team's lineup remains as Patrick Beverley revealed his former Los Angeles Clippers coach advised him to take the 76ers deal.
"Before I like to make any, like, life decision, I hit Doc," PatBev started explaining in his podcast.
"I hit Doc. 'I might go to Philly. Obviously, you was there. How'd you like the situation?' Now this is a Hall of Fame coach that just got fired, and his response, exact words, 'I love Philadelphia for you. They need you. You will be great with Joel (Embiid). James (Harden), he respects you. You will be great with him. If I had you last season, we would have been a different team.'"

Beverley and Rivers were together from 2017 to 2020 and went through many battles together.
Other teams PatBev could've played for
The 34-year-old point guard also said in his podcast that there were other teams trying to get his services, and these were teams that were legit title contenders.
One of them was Boston Celtics, whom he said were willing to pay him higher than what he would get from the Sixers. The other team is Washington Wizards, who were also ready to make a splash for his services.
PatBev agreed to a one-year $3.1 million contract with the Phillies. He last played for the Chicago Bulls and helped them earn a play-in spot.
He explained that other than Doc Rivers, another reason why he joined the Joel Embiid-led team is its new coach, Nick Nurse. He added that at this point in his career, it is not just about money anymore.
