The Los Angeles Dodgers just can't catch a break as they are now set to lose pitcher Dustin May to a season-ending surgery.

The team announced that the 25-year-old would be out longer to deal with his injury.

"Dustin May will undergo right elbow surgery to repair the flexor tendon on July 18 in Los Angeles. Dr. Neal ElAttrache will perform the procedure," the team posted on Twitter.

This is May's second time dealing with an injury in the elbow after undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery two years ago.

The injury will keep May out of the field for a longer time, for the whole season, to be specific, to be able to recover fully.

Unfortunately, according to manager Dave Roberts, May had to step away from the game after showing off last season.

"It's tough for Dustin, what he's had to go through," Roberts said last May when Dustin was first diagnosed.

"He was throwing the baseball well this year and feeling good. Right now to have this speed bump, I know he's disappointed."

Other injuries they failed to dodge

Aside from May, Dodgers are already dealing with the loss of right-hander Walker Buehler to undergo Tommy John surgery and Chris Taylor, who is dealing with a sore right knee.

Clayton Kershaw, who was selected for the All-Star game, was also put on the injured list due to a shoulder injury. He is expected to miss two weeks to recover fully, including the All-Star Game in Seattle this week.
