Aaron Rodgers is followed by controversy everywhere he goes, but he just won over a significant critic by just doing his off-season job.
New York Jets legend Joe Klecko was previously not sold on the idea of having Rodgers on his former team, saying the four-time NFL MVP has a bad attitude toward younger players. He explained that the locker room was a great place for everyone during his time, and he and his teammates were getting along well.
Klecko is now singing a different tune and believes the 39-year-old Rodgers has overcome the generational gap and showing himself as a capable leader.
"He's ingratiated the rest of the team, and he's out there teaching guys. He's doing the things that you see a Tom Brady do," he said during an appearance at ESPN Radio's "The Jake Asman" show.
"I think he's going to be a big surprise for everybody in New York."
Garrett Wilson attests to Rodgers' greatness
One of the young players in the Jets lineup is wide receiver, Garrett Wilson.
The 22-year-old, Rodgers and the rest of the team recently had a training camp, and Wilson said being in the presence of the legendary quarterback already feels like a tutorial on how to be great.
"Being on the same page with the dude that's slinging you the ball is - if you take your job seriously and you're a receiver, tight end or running back - it's really valuable," Wilson said to USA Today.
"I didn't really know how much went into being great. Being around him, I can see that now."
Team chemistry will be first tested on August 3 as the Jets take on the Cleveland Brown in the preseason.
