The Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards have finally completed the deal that would send Kristaps Porzingis to Beantown by adding the Memphis Grizzlies as a trading partner.

However, in a surprising turn of events, longtime Celtics guard and 2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart will be dealt to Memphis.
The Wizards will receive Grizzlies backup guard Tyus Jones, Danilo Gallinari, and Mike Muscala, as well as a 2023 second-round pick in the deal.
On the other hand, aside from Porzingis, the Celtics will also be getting two first-round picks in the trade from Memphis.

Kristaps Porzingis To Celtics Trade Finally Completed
The transaction ends a tumultuous day for both the Celtics and Wizards, who have been in talks for hours.
An initial deal involving the Los Angeles Clippers was supposed to be the transaction that would send the 7-foot-3 Latvian to Boston. The Celtics would have given up reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon instead of Smart.
Before the deal could be completed, the Clippers backed out due to concerns over the health status of Brogdon, who has a partially torn tendon on his right elbow.
The Wizards and Celtics scrambled to complete the deal before midnight due to the opt-in on Porzingis' player option deadline for the 2023-24 NBA season, worth $36 million.
