Real Madrid: Carlo Ancelotti To Become Brazil Manager in 2024 After Madrid Contract Ends

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave his managerial post in the Spanish capital to take over the Brazilian national team in 2024, according to Brazilian news outlet Globo.

The report mentioned that neither Real Madrid nor the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) will make an announcement until January, but the agreement is already in place.

One of the world's most decorated managers, Ancelotti, reportedly had two meetings in Spain with CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues, wherein both sides agreed on the 64-year-old's future.

Brazil initially considered hiring Ancelotti's son, Davide, in a coaching role to help ease the transition of his father's arrival when his contract with Madrid expires at the end of the 2023-24 season, but the idea was scrapped.

Davide currently serves as the lead assistant manager for his father in Madrid, and he will come along in the move with the five-time World Cup winners.

The Italian tactician's first major task as Brazil's manager will be the 2024 Copa America, which will take place from June to July. Ancelotti has never been a head coach for any national team before.

Brazil To Break Taboo With Carlo Ancelotti Hiring

Brazil will break an unwritten rule by appointing Ancelotti - a foreign manager.

It's been nearly 60 years since a non-Brazilian has been at the national team's helm when Argentine Filpo Nunez had a short stint in 1965.

Aside from this, almost no other major nation in the sport has had a foreign manager in decades, except for England, which appointed two foreign coaches in the early 2000s.
