The Denver Nuggets waved off a late rally by the Miami Heat in a hard-fought Game 5, 94-89, to clinch the 2023 NBA Championship, their first in franchise history.

After the final buzzer sounded, Nikola Jokic was asked how becoming an NBA Champion felt, to which he answered that he was happy to get the job done.

"The job is done, we can go home now," the two-time MVP said.

The Serbian big man was named Finals MVP, averaging 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists throughout the five-game series.

Nikola Jokic Can't Wait To Go Home

The recently-crowned Finals MVP was asked in the post-game press conference if he was looking forward to the championship parade. Jokic immediately asked a Nuggets employee when will the parade be held.

After the reporter answered that the parade would be held on Thursday, the Joker replied, "No, I need to go home."

The Nuggets employee said that Jokic could go home on Friday, and he gently obliged.

Jokic happily sat down with the NBA TV crew after, and he was asked about his schedule for the next two weeks.

He answered he needed to go home to Serbia by Sunday for horse racing activities, and he wasn't sure if he could make it in time due to the championship parade.

Jokic mentioned that he might ask Nuggets team executive Josh Kroenke, the son of owner Stan Kroenke, for a plane ride back home.

"I'll put him under the pressure.. I don't feel bad at all," Jokic jokingly expressed to the NBA TV crew.
