Lakers' New Mural Has Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 'Jealous' of Kobe Bryant -- Here's Why

The Los Angeles Lakers, in collaboration with Korean-cuisine food company and jersey sponsor Bibigo, revealed a new mural featuring franchise legends from past to present in a community event in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Several Laker legends were in attendance, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who won five titles with the team.

The NBA's former all-time leading scorer joked that he was a bit jealous of the late Kobe Bryant, who had two images in the newly-unveiled mural.

"It's really wonderful to see this mural. Although, I am a little bit jealous that Kobe [Bryant] got two images," the record six-time NBA MVP said.

The mural featured two versions of the Lakers' all-time leading scorer, and he is the only one with two images.

The first image is a younger version of Bryant, who sported an afro hair and wore jersey number 8 alongside Shaquille O'Neal. The duo led the purple-and-gold franchise to a three-peat from 2000 to 2002.

The second image is the older and wiser version of the late basketball great, now bald and sporting the iconic 24 jersey number. With the help of Pau Gasol, they led the Lakers to back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010.

All five championships of Bryant had legendary coach Phil Jackson on the sidelines. Bryant played his whole 20-year professional career in Los Angeles, scoring 33,643 career points as a Laker.
