Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed his way to reduce stress levels and improve mood in the Gunners' training ground - a chocolate Labrador named "Win."
The dog is being taken care of at the club's training facility at London Colney, Hertfordshire.
The Gunners manager stumbled upon research showing that petting a dog can be calming, improve a mood and reduce stress levels. He was inspired to apply it to the team.
Mikel Arteta Believes a Pet Could Help in Title Bid
Arteta stated that he felt the club was like a big family, and they needed something to represent it. He also said that dogs can be taught to connect and be more caring with people and show love.
The 41-year-old tactician believes the dog perfectly represents who they are and considers the pet "one of us."
He also saw the energy shift caused by the female Labrador's arrival. Win is not fazed by the training ground's resident cat, Bob, who was adopted when the original owner died.
The dog has a primary carer who looks after her well-being.
Arsenal put up a valiant fight for the Premier League title this season, at one point being eight points ahead on top on the league last January.
However, a poor run at the end of the title race caused them to slip to number two, virtually handing Manchester City the title.
Only time will tell if Win can help the Gunners win their first Premier League title since 2003-04.
