Virat Kohli Declares Shubman Gill as His Heir Apparent With Beautiful IG Story

The Gujarat Titans (GT) secured their place in the playoffs of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) with an impressive victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), winning by 34 runs.

The star of the match was opener Shubman Gill, who played remarkable innings and scored his first-ever century in the IPL, marking his third century in T20 cricket overall.

Shubman Gill's Display of Brilliance

On Monday, Gill displayed brilliance by smashing 101 runs off just 58 deliveries. During his innings, Gill struck 13 boundaries and a six. This century further adds to Gill's exceptional year in international cricket and the IPL, where he emerged as a breakthrough talent.

In the current IPL season, Gill has accumulated 576 runs at an impressive strike rate of 146.19, maintaining an average of 48.00. Along with his century, he has also recorded four half-centuries.

After witnessing Gill's outstanding performance, his fellow Indian teammate and former captain, Virat Kohli, took to Instagram to share his admiration

Kohli expressed his belief in Gill's potential and said he envisions the 23-year-old leading the next generation of Indian cricketers. In an Instagram story, Kohli wrote, "There's potential and then there's Gill." He advised Gil to go on and lead the next generation.

Gill's century elevated him to the second spot in the list of top scorers, surpassing Yashasvi Jaiswal of the Rajasthan Royals. 

Jaiswal himself has been enjoying a breakthrough season, having accumulated 575 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 166.18 and an average of 47.92. 

In addition, he has registered a century along with four half-centuries. Notably, one of Jaiswal's half-centuries was an unbeaten 98 off just 47 balls, where he broke the record for the fastest IPL fifty, achieving the milestone in a mere 13 deliveries.
