Wembanyama to Miss NBA Draft Combine and NBA Draft Lottery
Wembanyama plans to finish the current LNB Pro A season with the Metropolitans 92, which is based in Levallois-Perret of the Paris metropolitan area. The league's regular season will conclude on May 17, with the top eight teams advancing to the playoffs.
The Metropolitans 92 currently sit at 2nd in the standings, guaranteeing them a spot in the postseason. This will extend the 19-year-old prospect's stint with the French team.
Wembanyama is currently averaging 21.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and an astounding 3.1 blocks per game in the French league.
The 7'4 center is widely considered the best basketball prospect in years. He can shoot from beyond the arc, beat defenders off the dribble, and score in various ways in the paint.
Nicknamed "Wemby," his colossal height also makes him an elite shot blocker. His combination of size and skill is unprecedented among prospects before him.
This will be the last time prospects can miss the NBA Draft Combine. Starting in 2024, the league announced that all prospects are required to participate in the multi-day event that measures their skills in multiple facets of the game.
The NBA Draft Lottery will commence on May 16, while the NBA Draft Combine will be held from May 16-18.
