The University of South Florida (USF) has decided to suspend Michel Dukes, their senior running back, indefinitely from the football team following his arrest on a felony charge of domestic battery by strangulation.

Michel Dukes' Bond Has Been Set at $2,000

The arrest came after the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting that Dukes had physically assaulted someone.

Upon investigation, deputies discovered that a verbal argument between Dukes and the individual had turned physical, and Dukes had strangled the other person.

Dukes' bond has been set at $2,000, according to the arrest records of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

In response to the incident, the USF athletics department has released a statement indicating that it is continuing to gather more information while the relevant authorities investigate the matter and that it will have no further comment at this time.

Meanwhile, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed his support for the victim and stated that domestic violence would not be tolerated.

He added that there is never a reason or excuse for this kind of behavior and that the victim will be connected with all necessary resources.

Michel Dukes, who is 22 years old, played three seasons at Clemson before transferring to USF. During the previous season, he rushed for 188 yards and was the second-highest scorer on the USF team with five rushing touchdowns.

However, the university's decision to suspend him from the team indicates that his future with the team and the sport may be uncertain, pending further investigation into the allegations against him.
