Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has no plans to submit a bid to purchase the NFL's Washington Commanders. This news follows reports that Bezos had a private meeting with Jay-Z to discuss a potential partnership in buying the team, although he is now said to be "not involved" in the bidding process. Despite hiring an investment firm to explore a possible bid just six weeks ago, Bezos has decided not to pursue the opportunity further.
Bezos has long been rumored as a potential buyer for the Commanders due to his ties to the Washington area. His net worth of over $120 billion makes him very capable of it. For a while, there have been rumors that he might be interested in buying the team from its current owner, Daniel Snyder, who is facing challenges.

Bezos's Lack of Interest
However, Bezos's lack of interest may provide a boost to two other groups who have already submitted bids for the team. These groups are led by Josh Harris, the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, and Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos. Both groups reportedly submitted bids meeting the team's owner Daniel Snyder's "asking price" of around $6 billion. Snyder announced in November that he had retained a bank to explore "potential transactions" regarding the team.

Harris' group also includes Mitchell Rales, a prominent businessman in the Washington area, and NBA legend Magic Johnson.
As per reports, a spokesperson for him declined to comment, and messages left with the investment firm Allen & Company he hired to explore the potential bid still need to be returned.
