Knicks Injury Report: Are Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson Playing vs. Heat in Game 2?

Before their Game 2 match against the Miami Heat on Tuesday, the New York Knicks provided information about the conditions of Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle.

Both players are questionable for the game due to injuries; Brunson has a sore ankle, while Randle has a sprained ankle that he re-injured in Game 5 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the Cleveland Cavaliers, causing him to miss Game 1 against the Heat.

Knicks are in Danger of Losing Home-court Advantage

Randle, an All-Star this season who led the Knicks in scoring and rebounding during the regular season, was replaced by Obi Toppin in the starting lineup for Game 1. Toppin performed well, finishing the game with 18 points, eight rebounds, and one steal.

If Brunson cannot play, Immanuel Quickley will likely start in his place. Quickley was a candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year Award this season and had impressive stats as a starter in the 2022-23 campaign.

The Knicks lost Game 1 and are in danger of losing their home-court advantage if they cannot field a strong team against the Heat in Game 2. However, the Miami Heat are also experiencing injury concerns, as Tyler Herro and Victor Oladipo are absent from the lineup, and Jimmy Butler, their key player, is hampered by an ankle injury that restricted his playing time in the concluding moments of Game 1. There are reports that Butler may not play in Game 2.

The good news for both teams is that Game 3 of the series isn't until Saturday, giving them three days of rest between Games 2 and 3. The Knicks and Heat will face off at 7:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, May 2, at Madison Square Garden in New York.
