Victor Oladipo's Relentless Approach to Recovery
The injury occurred during the third game of the Miami Heat's series against the Milwaukee Bucks on April 22.
Oladipo played in 42 regular-season games this year, starting in only two of them. He averaged 10.7 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.36 steals, playing for an average of 26.3 minutes per game.
On April 7, he scored a career-high 30 points off the bench against the Washington Wizards. Furthermore, on December 17, he tied the fourth-most steals by a Heat reserve in team history, recording five steals as a reserve against the San Antonio Spurs.
In the playoffs, he played two games, averaging 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 1.00 steals per game, shooting 52.6% from the field and 40% from three-point range.
Although there is hope that Oladipo will be able to return to the court in the 2023-24 season, his injury history makes that uncertain. Oladipo, a 30-year-old guard, has a player option to return to the Heat this offseason.
Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra praised Oladipo's previous injuries recoveries and optimistic attitude towards them. Spoelstra remarked that he had seen Oladipo's relentless approach to healing and that the guard had worked his way to be healthy and back in the game in the past.
However, the coach acknowledged that the rehab process could be very frustrating for a player, but Oladipo always maintained a positive attitude and a smile.
