Dillon Brooks holds others accountable rather than taking responsibility for being perceived as a villain in the NBA.
Dillon Brooks has discussed his expulsion from the Memphis Grizzlies' loss in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers. The confident guard, who had initially declined to talk to journalists at the stadium, spoke to the press on Sunday during practice and attributed the decision to a view of him as a "villain."

He said that the media and fans are making him a villain and creating another persona of him.

During Game 3 of the playoffs, Brooks attempted to steal the ball but ended up striking LeBron James in the groin area. The incident resulted in a Flagrant 2 foul and Brooks being ejected from the game. Although the contact may have been unintentional, the referees determined the foul was severe enough to warrant such a punishment.
Even though Brooks' actions may not have been deliberate, his past behavior may have influenced the decision to eject him. Brooks has a history of overly aggressive play, and in previous playoff games, he has been ejected and suspended for similar incidents. In last year's playoffs, Gary Payton had a broken elbow because of Brooks' hard foul on him. Brooks was ejected and was later suspended for a game.
This season, he was ejected for hitting Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell in the groin and suspended for reaching the technical foul threshold.
Moreover, Brooks is known for his trash-talking on the court, which has led to controversy and negative attention in the media. Following the Grizzlies' Game 2 win, Brooks made a comment about James that was deemed disrespectful by many.
Despite all this, Brooks will not face further punishment from the league and will be able to play in Game 4 on Monday. However, the Grizzlies are already down 1-2 in the series, making Game 4 a must-win situation.
The fourth game is scheduled for Monday at the Crypto.com Arena at 7:00 p.m., Los Angeles local time.
