The Jets are optimistic about luring Rodgers out of Green Bay as NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that they have just reached an agreement with wide receiver Mecole Hardman, currently a free agent.

Hardman, who helped Patrick Mahomes snag another Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, is reportedly signing a one-year deal with the Jets with a chance of making $6.5 million.

The 25-year-old wideout was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft and spent four seasons in Kansas City. He had two Super Bowl rings with the Chiefs before being hobbled by injuries last season.

No more misery

While the Super Bowl champions is the team to watch this season, the Jets have something to look forward to after several years of misery.

As the Jets continue to work on getting Rodgers, their former quarterback, Boomer Esiason, said he believes the Packers star will not be wearing his No. 12 jersey.

This was after Joe Namath, the Jets legend, made headlines in January when he said he would allow the organization to un-retire his famous No. 12 for Rodgers.

Rodgers had worn jersey No. 12 since starting his career as the 24th overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft.

"I can guarantee you he's not wearing No. 12," Esiason was heard saying during his morning show on WFAN, adding that "He's not a dummy. He's one of the smartest guys who has ever played, and understands history and who Joe Namath is and why that number is so important."

While Rodgers had confirmed on "The Pat McAfee Show that he intends to play for the Jets in the 2023 season, it has yet to be seen if he will continue to wear the No. 12, as he was noncommittal when asked about it.
