2K Sports has just released the first wave of ratings for NBA 2K22, and some stars aren't pleased with their overall standing. Unlike the highly popular Madden Game, no NBA stars entered the 99 Club this year with 2K, rarely giving near-perfect ratings to main roster players.

The highest rating for NBA 2K22 is just 96, with four players getting that distinction. NBA superstars LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and reigning champion Giannis Antetokounmpo were all given this particular rating by 2K Sports. James blasted the said decision, saying that Durant and Curry should be rated 99.

Who got 99 ratings before in NBA 2K?

Kevin Garnett was the first player ever to be given a 99 rating in 2K back in 2001. Shaquille O'Neal beat that rating in the following edition, becoming the only player to score a perfect 100.

Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Tim Duncan are the only other players to get a 99 rating while active on an NBA roster. No active player has held that exclusive rating since 2K14, so it isn't a complete surprise that the highest rating in 2K22 is just 96.

Last season, James and Antetokounmpo shared the honor as the highest-rated players in 2K21, with both of them nabbing 97 overall ratings. James, Antetokounmpo, Curry, and Durant should have been given at least a 97 after their solid performances last season. Giannis led the Bucks to an NBA title while Durant led Team USA to a gold medal finish in Tokyo.

Even though Curry failed to reach the playoffs and James exited the playoffs in the first round for the first time in his career, both players did produce MVP-caliber seasons for the Warriors and Lakers, respectively.

LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and Sixers center Joel Embiid were the only players to get 95 ratings for NBA 2K22. One point further back were Luka Doncic, James Harden, and Damian Lillard, who each got 94 ratings.

Breanna Stewart gets the highest rating among WNBA stars

WNBA stars also shared the limelight on Wednesday as their ratings for NBA 2K22 were also released. To no one's surprise, Breanna Stewart got the highest rating among the WNBA players with a 95. She led the Seattle Storm to the WNBA title in 2020 and was part of the United States team that won gold in the Tokyo Olympics.

A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and Jonquel Jones of the Connecticut Sun came in second with overall ratings of 94. Cover star Candace Parker of the Chicago Sky got a 93 rating, while Brittney Griner of the Phoenix Mercury nabbed a 92 rating.
