Cristiano Ronaldo is only one goal away from becoming the top goalscorer in the history of football.

Cristiano Ronaldo moved up the rank of top goal scorers surpassing Brazillian football star Pele in the all-time list.

The 35-year-old star scored a brace in Turin that allowed Juventus to thrash Udinese Calcio, 4-1. The win put Juventus at the fifth spot in the Serie A standings, while Udinese dropped to the 13th spot.

Cristiano Ronaldo's record-breaking goals

Ronaldo's first goal burst at the 31st mark of the game. The speed of the Portugal national team captain gave no time for the Udinese goalkeeper to react. He steered the ball in the corner then unloaded a kick from a distance.

Cristiano Ronaldo completed his brace 39 minutes later, scoring Juventus's third goal via a left-foot stunner.

Another goal for Juventus was from Federico Chiesa, assisted by Ronaldo in the midfield for a 2-0 advantage. Paulo Dybala ended the match with the last goal for their first triumph of 2021.

Marvin Zeegelaar managed to avert a shutout for Udinese with his lone goal.

Juventus was in need of refreshment following a staggering 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Fiorentina just two weeks ago.

Ronaldo hit his 757th and 758th goals earning him the spot of being the second-highest goal scorer in football.

Pele, who dropped to third in the all-time scoring list, tallied 757 goals during his stint between 1956 and 1977 when he played for Santos, Brazil, and New York Cosmos.

Although the three-time World Cup champion only scored 757 goals, many people claimed that the Brazilian legend managed to score 1,000 plus goals in his entire football career.

Cristiano Ronaldo is only one goal away from surpassing the top goal scorer in football history, Josef Bican. Bican played from 1931 to 1955 and produced a historic 759 goals in his entire professional career.

Ronaldo will look forward to acquiring the No. 1 spot in the all-time list ahead of Juventus' upcoming schedule against Sassuolo and AC Milan for the following week.

His rival Lionel Messi recorded the most goals for a player in a single club only a few weeks ago. Messi passed Pele's record of 643 after the Argentine star kicked his 644th goal for an equalizer against Valencia. His diving header marked his record-breaking goal in the history of football.

However, Santos denied that Messi surpassed Pele in the most goals scored in a single club. The Brazilian club recognized Messi's record-breaker, but they strongly claim that Pele scored 1,091 in FIFA's official games.

The club added that the count must include Pele's goals against other teams. The missing numbers will give an additional 448 goals for Pele.

Ronaldo totaled 656 career goals since his first game in 2002, wherein a significant number of his goals came from Real Madrid.

During his time with Real Madrid, he had 450 goals in 438 games. Also, Ronaldo knocked down 102 goals for his national team Portugal in 120 matches.
