In the recently released Pepsi ad campaign, reality TV star and model Kendall Jenner was featured. She is the new face of the brand. The advertisement shows Kendall Jenner discarding her modelling assignment to join a passing protest that depicted protesters to be young, happy and free-spirited.

Kendall Jenner is also shown taking off her blonde wig and joining the demonstrator. Further, in the end, she shares a Pepsi with one of the policemen. He is one of the police officers the protesters were railing against. The idea is depicting the fact that any problem can get solved with a can of Pepsi. According to CNBC, the ad had faced backlash on Twitter.

Kendall Jenner is also criticised for the ad. The campaign was portraying the thought - 'Live for Now Moments Anthem'. It was labelled as "Jump In". Despite the whole idea of the campaign seems to too appealing and interesting, the audience didn't actually enjoy the advertisement. The repercussions were swift and instantaneous. On social media, some labelled it to be the worst ad they've ever seen. Many disgraceful messages, memes and reactions were also floated on the social media platforms.

Pepsi took the reaction seriously and responded to the ad. Kendall Jenner is also reported disappointed by the reaction of people on the ad.

No matter what the company says, the damage has already been caused. The apologies are of no worth now. The idea of unity, peace and understanding has been either depicted wrong or has been interpreted in an incorrect way.

Not just that, due to Kendall Jenner's involvement with the ad campaign, she too had to face the consequences of it. For this reason, Pepsi extended its apology to her for putting her in the position that she is in. She was the centre of attention of the whole clip. However, a statement from the 21-year-old model is yet awaited. She has been accused of being a "self-promotional tool" as well as a backer of appropriating resistance.
