Sony Officially Unveils Xperia X2 Premium, World's First Smartphone That Boasts Of 4K Display

Sony has officially unveiled the Xperia X2 Premium, the latest and most advanced flagship smartphone that puts display and camera technology as its topmost priority.

Still keeping up with the signature sharp rectangular design of the traditional Xperia line, the latest X2 Premium brings in the world's first 4K HDR display for a smartphone, as claimed by Sony.

As per the Silicon, alongside the sharp display, Sony is aiming the X2 Premium to be the prime phone for capturing videos, with a camera which will be able to capture videos at up to 960 frames per second. This will enable for some highly detailed slow motion playbacks.

On the specs side, the Sony X2 Premium boast a 5.5-inch screen display, with the aforementioned 4K 2160×3840 resolution, these all fitted into a chassis that features an eye-catching mirrored finish. The smartphone will also equip with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, which will provide the power for the smartphone. According to Sony, allows for up to 1GBPS of downloads speeds, courtesy of the integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem.

As reported by Know Your Mobile, the Sony Xperia X2 Premium is backed up by the 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It also boasts quick charging, provided by USB Type-C to fill a 3230mAh battery. The battery is also incorporated with Sony's Smart Stamina system to accurately relay battery life based on the user's usual phone usage.

Other features in the Sony Xperia X2 Premium include a fingerprint scanner, which is integrated into the side-mounted power button, a microSD slot for added storage, and water and dust resistance rated up to the IP68 standard. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 will also be there on the phone to ensure that the handset can withstand a few falls, bumps and scratches.

Given the phone will officially be rolling out in late spring; we have yet to see a finalized version of Sony's latest Android creation. Stay tuned for more updates.
