NBA News: Derrick Rose Out For Rest Of The Season Due To Torn Meniscus [VIDEO]

New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose is out for rest of the NBA season with a torn meniscus in his left knee. He is having another knee surgery due to the injury. The team confirmed on Sunday that Rose will miss the remaining five games of this season.

Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek said it will be quite difficult for Rose who has played hard and fair throughout the year for the team. He further assured the fans that he will be taken care of very expertly and be back with the team as soon as possible. Hornacek sympathized with the player saying he did lots of yoga and other kinds of stuff last summer to get his body in great shape, the current injury will peg him back again.

This injury to Rose ended his first season for the Knicks in a surprising yet familiar way. He sat out for the third game straight against Boston on Sunday when the team initially revealed the injury was just soreness and swelling, nothing as serious as it is now. Hornacek said before the game that he is confident that Rose will play again this season.

Rose has had a very bad luck in injuries, he tore his ACL back in 2012 playoffs when he played for the Chicago Bulls and missed the entire next season too. He just played 10 games in the 2013-14 season before he was sidelined for a torn meniscus in his right knee. He eventually missed 20 more games while having trouble with the same knee.

Rose played 66 games for Chicago last season which was his most since his 2011 season when he was the MVP. Knicks bought him last summer despite knowing his physical condition, to start with the decision was justified when the player didn't have the rehab last summer. It looked like he has regained the pace of his game and played 64 games with an average of 18 points.

His contract expires post this season, teams will have to be very careful now before bidding for him as his injury history just gets worse season by season.
