Amir Khan has just joined the club of well-known boxers who wants to punish Conor McGregor, a UFC superstar. Conor McGregor has become a hot subject of late because of the controversial cross-sport fight that he and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are proposing to the public. In response, boxers like Ricardo Mayorga, Vasyl Lomachenko, and even Manny Pacquiao also surfaced as possible opponent for the thrash-talking Irish. The case of Amir Khan, 30, is something different;he is willing to face McGregor, 28, both in a boxing ring and in a UFC cage.
Amir Khan, a multiple division world champion, is well-known for his hand speed, range, and foot work and ring generalship. While his chin appears to be his Achilles tendon his punching power commands respect. He has been out of the ring for a while since his losing try at toppling down Canelo Saul Alvarez from his middleweight perch. The Bolton, Greater Manchester, England native is hoping to be able to pick up a fight again as early as possible.
For his shocking knockout, 13 second into the first round, of Jose Aldo in their UFC featherweight showdown last Dec. 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas McGregor has catapulted himself to the echelons of MMA. Jose Aldo was terrorizing the UFC featherweight division for10 long years before having been vanquished by McGregor.
If ever they get to fight, Amir Khan said in a boxing ring McGregor is not much of a problem for him to solve. In MMA it would be tough, he added. He needs to feed McGregor with a parade of punches, while maintaining comfortable distance in order to prevent himself from getting grab and taken down by the 28-year-old UFC champ. Khan does know, McGregor is not excellent on the floor which is something he could work out. Nate [Diaz] choked him out and Nate said to me he's not the best when you get him on the floor', so he's normally a stand up fighter. Khan further argued.
