Mitsubishi will delay the much anticipated redesigns of its two most important vehicles Outlander and Outlander Sport crossover. These two vehicles were originally expected to go on sale by April 2019 but now it is expected to be delayed till 2020.

Mitsubishi's new partner Nissan is hoping to improve crossovers of Mitsubishi by sharing architecture with hot-selling market car Nissan Rogue and the recently upcoming Rogue Sport. Those components though won't be used in either of brand's vehicles, but some sharing of parts may benefit auto-makers with some sort of savings.

The Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport crossovers are already up for their size adjustments again as the company makes room for the coming all-new Eclipse Cross crossover, which will as expected come in between the two famous SUVs. It is reported that Mitsubishi's hit-market Outlander Sport will have a resize for the first since it's arrival in 2010, it will shrink than before. The Outlander which hasn't been redesigned since 2012, will get more beefier.

Delays in arrival of Outlander and Outlander Sport will automatically spell trouble for Mitsubishi in terms of their dealerships which needs new vehicles in their armoury. A much longer wait for the vehicles could ruin the excitement crossovers brings for customers, when it is known that both Outlander vehicles are keeping the company sales afloat in U.S.

It is no surprise that the arrival of Eclipse Cross in recent future will help the dealers to hinge on it for a while until the Outlander models are redesigned and ready to go again. So far, Mitsubishi hasn't informed the dealers about the delay in Outlander models, but the company is taking another look at its products available to them.

Nissan's CEO Carlos Ghosn who is also the head of Mitsubishi-Renault-Nissan partnership, will be stepping down from Nissan on 1st April and shift his focus towards Mitsubishi in a long way.
