Michael Vick is willing to say what Chip Kelly still refuses to.

"In all honesty, in all fairness, how can you take a guy out of the game who's been playing so well?" Vick told CSNPhilly.com.

"I've been in this stage before, and I know what it's like," Vick added. "I understand the position that this team is in, and the one thing I never want to do is be a distraction or put our team or our coaches in a position where they feel like they're not doing the right thing or I feel like they're not doing the right thing. I trust what's going on, I enjoy being a part of it, I love the game of football in general. So it's important to me to be there in support and be ready if my name and number is called again."

Since replacing Vick as the Eagles starter, Foles has thrown 16 touchdown passes and no interceptions, setting stadium records for highest passer rating by a visiting quarterback in both Oakland and Green Bay and ending the Eagles' 10-game home losing streak while compiling an overall NFL-leading 127.9 passer rating.

On Sunday, he threw for 298 yards in a 24-16 win over the Redskins, extending his streak of passes without an interception to 199 -- second-longest in franchise history -- and lifting the Eagles to 6-5 and in first place in the NFC East.

"I thought Nick went out and put on a great performance against the Redskins," Vick told CSN. "He went out and did everything the coaches asked him to do, and that's what you want in a must-win game, and that's what the magnitude of that game was.

An 11-year veteran who has been to four Pro Bowls, Vick has taken Foles under his wing in hopes of helping the young quarterback reach his long-term potential.

"He had an opportunity to learn from me this year and last year and just sit behind me and pick my brain, and he also went out and played the game, and now he's just taking that and everything is unfolding for him," said Vick. "He can potentially be a starter in this league for a long time. It's just about timing, as of right now. As long as he keeps doing what he's doing, he's going to continue to build that case."

Kelly hinted earlier this week that Vick could be back on the practice field on a full-time basis as early as next week for the Eagles.
