HTC U Ultra has been announced by the company in luxury Sapphire Edition. HTC had earlier posted on its Taiwan Facebook page that it will be launching a spring surprise on Monday, and now the 'Sapphire' Edition of the HTC U Ultra is available.

Rather than the regular Gorilla Glass 5 seen on the common version of the phone, HTC U Ultra Sapphire Edition has a Sapphire glass on top. HTC is also giving away a classic leather flip case with the device, HTC QC 3.0 fast charge action, collection of leather key ring along with the edition. However this is only available on pre-order phones.

HTC U Ultra Sapphire edition is coming with a heavy price tag. The 128GB Sapphire edition costs NT$ 28,900 that is $950, as reported by Indian Express. The device is featuring a glass-metal design with a glossy back color.

The HTC U Ultra comes with 5.7-inch display with 2K resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), and the regular version has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating on top. The smartphone is running on the latest Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. The back camera is 12MP with laser autofocus and OIS, and on the front side there's a 16MP camera with HTC's UltraPixel mode, as per Gadget360.

Other specs on HTC U Ultra include GPS/ A-GPS, 4G LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, NFC, DLNA, Miracast, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, HTC Connect, and USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity. The HTC U Ultra also features a fingerprint sensor on the Home Button, and has 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

However, there's no headphone jack on this phone. HTC has also not added water proofing or dust proofing to this one either. HTC U Ultra sports BoomSound Hi-Fi speakers.

The HTC U Ultra Limited Edition is up for pre-orders in Taiwan currently for TWD 28,900. The 64GB variant is available in India for INR 59,990.
