Tony Romo may be headed to the Denver Broncos with the hopes of doing what Peyton Manning did minus the retirement. The Broncos and the Houston Texans are reportedly the top contenders to land the former Dallas Cowboys' quarterback once he hits free agency.

There is no denying the fact that Tony Romo will no longer be wearing the Dallas Cowboys' jersey next NFL season. The only question now is whether Jerry Jones will trade his favorite player or will he simply cut him from the team and let Romo decide his next destination. Either way, Romo's Dallas Cowboys days are numbered.

According to CBSSports, the Dallas Cowboys are trying to strike a last-minute deal to trade Tony Romo to either the Denver Broncos or the Houston Texas. Both teams have already expressed their interest in obtaining the services of the quarterback and both are also the top contenders to land Tony Romo if he hits the 2017 NFL free agency market.

Though riddled with injuries the past few seasons, Tony Romo may still be considered as a starting caliber quarterback. Romo's ability to read opposing defenses is considered as one of his best assets as a quarterback and despite being prone to injuries, the quarterback has not lost the knack to read through defensive sets.

According to USA Today, the Texans and the Broncos are teams that does not really depend much to its offense as both teams are known for their defenses. Adding a veteran quarterback like Tony Romo to either team will only boost the teams' offense provided that the often injured quarterback stay healthy this NFL season.

Adding Tony Romo will make the Texans the favorite to claim the AFC South Title. While the Broncos' mission to get another Super Bowl after Peyton Manning's successful last hurrah also leads them to Tony Romo.
