Canelo Alvarez Next Fight: Miguel Cotto Deal Complete? Demetrius Andrade Boasts He Would Beat Either Fighter, Also Floyd Mayweather Jr., Erislandy Lara [VIDEO]

Miguel Cotto has agreed to fight Canelo Alvarez in a 12-round encounter on March 8th, according to Ringsidereport.com. Cotto has been linked to both Alvarez and middleweight Sergio Martinez since early October, when he knocked out Delvin Rodriguez in under three rounds, but apparently has decided to step in the ring with the Mexican icon.

While the prospect of facing Martinez with a chance at a belt in a fourth weight class, something no Puerto Rican fighter has accomplished, was appealing, the eight figures he was getting to take on Alvarez clearly was too good to pass up. Martinez will likely move on from Cotto and take on Marco Antonio Rubio, possibly in his home country of Argentina.

Upon hearing the news about this pairing, young up-and-comer Demetrius Andrade made some startling comments with regards to some highly-regarded fighters. The prospect, fresh off a split decision victory over Vanes Matirosyan most observers believe should've been unanimous, claimed he would defeat both men, as well as Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Erislandy Lara.

The first name that jumps off the page is "Money" Mayweather, boxing's pound-for-pound king. "I would beat him by decision, if not, I may knock him out if I had to. That could be. I just feel that I'm a southpaw, and I'm long and rangy. I'm fast. I'm not no dumb fighter. I believe that I have the power to do it."

Fighting Mayweather seems out of the question, since Andrade is still essentially an unknown. A fight in the near future with Canelo or Cotto isn't out of the realm of possibility though.

I'm fast....I would stop him [Canelo]. I would walk his little a-- down. I would stop him [Cotto], too. I would stop him just because he's smaller, and I'm longer, and I would have him walking into punches all night long."

Erislandy Lara is due to face off with Austin Trout on December 7th, and the winner of that fight could absolutely be Andrade's next opponent. Andrade said he'd have no problem handling Lara either.

"I would whup his a--. But since he likes to run a lot, I think that our fight might go the distance."
