There comes the good news all PlayStation 4 users were waiting for, Sony has announced the 4.5 system update for the PS4 which has spent the last month or so in beta and this update has some new tricks with better experiences expected from each user.

One of the main improved feature is the external hard drive support, if a user is short on storage space then they can attach an external hard drive into their PS4 for extra space. There is a good chance that almost any USB 3.0 storage device will play nice with the PlayStation 4 after the 4.5 update. Drives between 256GB and 8TB will be supported which means users can vastly expand their PS4's storage with ease.

There will also be a 3D Blu-Ray for PlayStation VR. Users will no longer need to don those low-spec, strapping on PS VR will enable them to enjoy full, stereoscopic 3D Blu-ray through PlayStation 4. It is an expensive way to attain 3D viewing in some sense, but existing PS VR owners can attain this solution with more ease.

There will be a boost mode for PlayStation 4 Pro which means older games will also be played better. In context, boost mode is Sony's answer to call for repurposed content for Pro model. Boost mode sees the PS4 run legacy titles, those which were developed before the PS4 Pro was released.

Users can now also change their PlayStation 4 backgrounds and wallpapers. Update 4.5 delivers support for custom wallpapers which comes a relief for users who don't like PS4 backgrounds and wallpapers. Users won't be able to stick a Windows XP wallpaper but they can boot up to that insane battlefield headshot.

There will be better communication system in the 4.5 update of PlayStation 4. Chat options have been streamlined all around in the software update. A voice chat support for Remote play, which means if a user is away from the box he/she can audio chat with other gamers in the system.

In addition to above changes, tweaks to the PS Messages and Communities apps have introduced quick reply options for Party invitations and there is a GIF support for ShareFactory.
