NFL News: The NFL Salary Cap Increases More Than $10 Million To $167 Million In 2017 [VIDEO]

The NFL salary cap per team will once again take a major leap, some of the recent projections have had the cap falling somewhere between $166 million and $170 million, it has bee revealed by former NFL agent Joel Corry.

Though the final number is $167 million which is towards the lower end of the given range, still it has been a major leap to previous NFL salary caps per year. This cap figure will be for the full 2017 season, as told by NFL official to the reporters on Wednesday. Last year, the salary cap was $155.27 million, so more than $10 million leap to this year is quite significant.

As being noted, this is the fourth consecutive season that the NFL cap has jumped at least $10 million from where it was at previous years. The NFL operated without a cap back in 2010, since then the cap figure has changed from $120 million to $167 million.

In 2011, the NFL salary cap was $120 million, it got increased to $120.6 million in 2011, in 2013 the salary cap got increased upto $123 million. In 2014, the salary cap leaped $10 million to $133 million, in 2015 the cap got increased to $143.8 million. The last year, salary cap was $155.27 million and now for the 2017 season salary cap will be $167 million per team.

As expected, all the teams in NFL won't have the chance to spend $167 million. In the new CBA, NFL has allowed to carry over the unused cap space from the previous year, which automatically inflates their available cap room for the following 2017 season.

As revealed by Joel Corry, the Browns, the Jaguars and 49ers all have $35-plus million in their carry over room, this gives them them the effective caps to $200 million for the coming 2017 season. The Browns can also enter the offseason with $100 million in cap space, depending whether they choose the franchise tag or not.
