"Star Wars Battlefront 2" is due sometime this year and recent reports suggest that it will bring in characters from the new movies. Electronic Arts CEO Blake Jorgensen shared some details on the sequel which would certainly make Star Wars fans excited.

In the first "Star Wars Battlefront," characters from the old trilogy were featured as playable characters. The game, however, failed to include characters from the new trilogy that started in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" with the exception of certain characters from "Star Wars: Rogue One." This will all change on "Star Wars Battlefront 2" as Jorgensen confirmed that the sequel will include "a lot of characters" from the new movies according to Game Rant.

Gamers can expect characters like Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and Supreme Commander Snoke in "Star Wars Battlefront 2." The new characters will likely be joining the old roster of "Star Wars Battlefront" which includes staples such as Luke, Leia, Han and Darth Vader. A battle between the old and new Jedi and Sith which can only happen on "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" would certainly excite fans.

The inclusion of new characters from the new trilogy is a smart move for EA as it will help the game reach a bigger audience while adding fresh content. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is a huge hit for Disney that successfully revived the legendary franchise with a new generation of fans joining its legion of fans. By adding the characters from the new trilogy, "Star Wars Battlefront 2" will be able to reach the new generation of fans which will help drive the sales of the game.

Moreover "Star Wars Battlefront 2" will be dramatically larger than its predecessor as reported by PlayStationLifeStyle. One of the key inclusions for "Star Wars Battlefront 2" will be a single player story campaign which will be helmed by Assassin's Creed alumnus Jade Raymond as confirmed by Jorgensen.

The addition of a single player story campaign for "Star Wars Battlefront 2" is a welcome change as the first game was criticized for its lack of content. Details on the single player campaign such as the plot have yet to be revealed but a confirmation of its inclusion is enough to make gamers happy.

"Star Wars Battlefront 2" will likely release in October or November this year. Stay tuned for more updates.
