Golden State Warriors have changed their minds following the injury to Kevin Durant, they are peeling away from their original plan. Latest updates suggest that they will now sign Matt Barnes and will waive off veteran point guard Jose Calderon after fulfilling their promise to almost sign him.

Calderon was expected to join the Warriors after being bought out by Los Angeles Lakers in very recent days. In fact it was Barnes who was waived off last week by the Kings, as they made the provided roster space to complete the trade that sent DeMarcus Cousins to New Orleans.

Obviously, the need for Barnes over Calderon is pretty clear, Durant and Andre Iguodala are team's only small forwards. With injury to Durant, the team would have been dependent on Iguodala and rookie Patrick McCaw, who if needed would have played out of position at 3. The addition of Barnes will help balance out but it strips the Warriors from signing their third point guard though.

This all change took place due to Kevin Durant getting injured during Tuesday's loss to the Washington Wizards, he suffered a hyperextended knee and underwent an MRI. The results were to come by Wednesday but it seems the news is not good that is why Warriors are not taking any chances and signing Barnes over their scheduled point guard signing.

Barnes is a 14-year veteran, averaging 7.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the Kings in 54 games. The 36-year old has played two seasons with the Warriors back in 2006-2008. He then played a key role to help Warriors upset the top seeded Dallas Mavericks in first round of playoffs. He was released as the casualty of DeMarcus Cousins deal.

Fans are worried by this decision as it shows Warriors are bracing for time without Kevin Durant, scan results are still pending but this emergency signing may just reveal that Durant is out for fair amount of time.
