When Wes Welker's new team takes on his old team next Sunday night in prime time, the wide receiver may not be available to play following a concussion he sustained during the Denver Bronco's Sunday Night Football victory over the previously undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, making him questionable for the clash with the New England Patriots in Week 12.
Welker, who is in his first year with the Broncos and spent six years thriving in New England, sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of the Broncos (9-1) 27-17 victory over the Chiefs (9-1) after he was hit following him hauling in a 20-yard pass. After Welker was hit he appeared to be woozy and took a knee on the field.
He returned to the game briefly after the play and recorded another catch before leaving the game for good.
ESPN reports that the quickest Welker could practice following NFL concussion protocol would be on Friday, but it's unknown whether or not the receiver will be good to go by then. Welker must be cleared by an independent doctor before he can play, leaving his status for the game against his old team in New England in doubt.
The Denver Post's Mike Klis posted the following on Twitter after the game:
Wes Welker has concussion but chances are he doesn't want to miss next week's game at New England.

A video of the injury can be seen here.
Welker has nine touchdowns on the season for Denver to go along with 61 receptions and 641 yards as he is one of Peyton Manning's best targets this season, picking up right where he left off in New England, where he and Tom Brady combined for six seasons where he compiled 100-plus catches each year.
The good news for Denver is that the victory had them overtake the Chiefs for first in the division. Now, Denver will look ahead to Week 12 and the Sunday Night Football matchup with the Patriots (7-2) in Week 12 at Gillette Stadium in New England.
