The Packers enter play with their third string quarterback Scott Tolzien getting his first-career NFL start while the Giants have won three straight games after an 0-6 start to the season but are still looking to play a complete game.
Tolzien took over for the injured Seneca Wallace (groin) in Week 10 as Aaron Rodgers is sidelined with a fractured collarbone, and he went 24-for-39 (61.5%) for 280 yards with one touchdown and two picks.
Tolzien was undrafted, and though he threw two picks and the Packers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 27-13, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was impressed with the signal caller.
"I saw a young man get better during the course of the game running plays he hasn't played yet and doing things that I thought was exceptional for a young quarterback," McCarthy said, according to ESPN. "So I was very pleased with his performance."
Green Bay fell to one game behind the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions and is looking to avoid its first three-game slide since 2008.
"I think if you don't have your confidence, it's very tough to have success," Tolzien told ESPN. "That's where internally it begins to have that confidence."
The Giants are coming off of a 24-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders, but they're not taking Tolzien and Green Bay lightly.
"We're 3-6," safety Antrel Rolle said via ESPN. "We're in no way, shape or form going to underestimate anyone. We know exactly who we have ahead of us."
The Giants defense will look to stop a Green Bay rushing attack that is sixth in the league with 143.1 yards per game on the ground led by rookie Eddie Lacy, who is eighth in the league with 669 rushing yards 158 attempts with four scores.
The Giants have attempted to spark a running game of their own evidenced by Andre Brown rushing for 115 yards and a score last Sunday in his season debut. Brown has a score in his last six games.
"Don't look back," Brown said per ESPN. "If I looked back at all the injuries I had, I probably wouldn't be here right now. Just move forward and keep working."
A lot of criticism has fallen on the shoulders of New York quarterback Eli Manning, who is 183-for-329 (55.6%) and has a passer rating of 68.5 for his worst mark since his rookie season. He's thrown for 2,307 yards while adding 11 touchdowns and a league-high 16 interceptions.
The Packers will hope their third string quarterback will fill in nicely while the Giants look to get their offense going and try to win their fourth straight game when the teams take the field this afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
