A few years ago, Audi set up a prank which tells that their A8 model has a special edition called the Audi A8 5.5 which has a feature of using the car engine's heat to cook the "perfect" rice. For Western culture, they were believe that the April Fools prank was racist, but the Japanese market actually liked the idea, to the extent that some would actually want to have one.

The idea of 5.5 came from the Japanese word "gohan" which means "rice" in English (go = 5, han = .5). The photos describe the car to have a touchscreen control for the rice cooker, with settings to prepare the perfect rice for the car owner. It also has a classy wooden table which pops from the rear seat. It was also pre -loaded with bowls and serving spoon, making the promise that the Audi 8 5.5 doesn't need extra utensils to be enjoyed. Supposed to be, the car's interior is designed with cream and green upholstery to accentuate with the healthy living experience inside a luxurious vehicle.

By any chance the Audi A8 5.5 ever become real, the Gohan engine can handle 5.5 liters worth of rice. Aside from rice, the car should also be able to cater other types of food for an on-the-go cooking experience. As reported by Car Buzz, there are individuals who actually asked for a complete catalogue of the car because they intend to buy one.

Sadly, no matter how pleasing the idea is, the Audi A8 5.5 was nothing but a prank. However, those who actually contacted their dealer for the car availability received a special wooden serving spoon for rice as a gift, which was available until the stocks ran out, according to Audi Japan. It's been two years since the prank made a buzz, but turning it to a reality might actually be a good marketing strategy in a country who loves rice.
